Teachers can leverage DISC and emotional intelligence (EQ) in several ways to better understand and support teenagers and children in schools:


Understanding Behavioral Styles (DISC)

  • Teachers can use the DISC model to understand the different behavioural styles of their students: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness.

  • By identifying students' predominant styles, teachers can adapt their teaching methods and communication styles to better resonate with each student.

  • For example, a teacher might adjust their approach with a dominant student by providing opportunities for leadership, while they might offer more encouragement and social interaction for an influential student.


Tailoring Instruction

  • With insights from DISC, teachers can tailor their instruction to accommodate different learning preferences and behavioural tendencies.

  • For instance, students with a high dominance style may prefer a more hands-on, action-oriented approach, while those with a steadiness style may benefit from a calm, structured environment.
